The 5th of December is a special day in The Netherlands. That day we celebrate that Sinterklaas (St. Nicolas) comes all the way from Spain to bring presents to the children. For somewhat older people like me it is common to make some funny present for family members. For some years I made some small computer games that the lucky receiver of my present had to play in order to find out where his/her present was hidden.
The image above shows my most advanced 5December - game: a platform game where the player had to guide Pieterbaas (the helper of Sinterklaas) over the roofs of the city to bring the presents to the kids. Pieterbaas can run and jump ... and when he falls it's game over. The background was drawn with my self-made drawing program and scrolls along in three different layers when Pieterbaas moves (such that Pieterbaas is always in the center of attention).
